It was dubbed and released in Hindi as "Newton" and in Tamil as "M. V. Thanthai Lappadikal".The story revolves around people who live in a small village, Thiruvalam near lake Thiruvallam. The storyline revolves around the life of the villagers, their tribulations and how they find ways to survive despite adversities. It revolved around their social activities such as marriage, festivals and various other occasions.The film is based on the life of Tanjavur Lingayat King Virupaksha Nayaka (Tanjavur) (1844–1860) and his queen Ramabhadri (1849–1919).

The soundtrack and background score were composed by M. M. Keeravani.The original story was written by Sri Sri, who is also the script writer of this movie. He later sold the rights to director Rajamouli on 20 February 2011. Abburi Ravi had written the dialogues for the movie, while story was penned by Kranthi Madhav and screenplay by Srikanth Vissa and Sri Sri had contributed in both departments.A Telugu–Tamil bilingual film, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu has been dubbed into Hindi as "Newton" and in Tamil as "MV Thanthai Lappadikal". Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (SVSC) is also dubbed into Malayalam as "Anna Keliye" (2014).A Hindi dubbed version of the film by Balaji Motion Pictures. The film was produced by Gopi Sunder under the banner Uppalapati Studios. The film stars Naseeruddin Shah, Prakash Raj, Urvashi Rautela and Boman Irani in lead roles. The film was released on 30 September 2016.Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu received positive reviews from critics. "The Times of India" gave the movie 3 out of 5 stars and wrote "I have no doubt that Rajamouli has made this movie with his heart.
